It’s that moment when Dean is smiling all brave like, but his face is fucking soaked with tears, right after that clock strikes midnight.

Because yes, of course he’s terrified of being fucking dragged to hell (in very painful and bloody shreds, that is). But his brother’s standing right there freaking out because this is it. No more time to find some obscure answer. And Sam’s gonna have to be there to actually WATCH it happen. And there’s nothing Dean can do except for act like it’s gonna all be okay and work itself out somehow, even though they BOTH know that his lying through his fucking teeth.

Other than the scene in 2x21, there is no other moment where Dean faces the fact that he is after all, just human, and that he can’t really win every battle just because he’s made up his mind that he’s going to.
